Following Ralph James letting our first property in Dorking, we got to know the new tenants a little better. Our Lettings Manager caught up with Rachael for a little house tour, a strong coffee and a catch up this week.

Hi Rachael, how much do you and Scott pay to live here?
£1,550pcm.
How did you find the property?
I found it on Rightmove
And what do you get for what you pay?
We get a semi-detached house with two bedrooms and one bathroom, a lush private front garden and large private deck. As well as a spacious kitchen and dining area, separate from the living area. We also have lots of nooks and crannies for storage and a small reading nook on the landing.
Do you feel like you have a good deal?
Yes!
There are so many aspects we love, including some features that are not typical to a flat/house within this budget.
We like that we’re in the middle of town but at the same time we’re tucked away from the actual street.
What do you think of the area, Dorking?
I love Dorking. I think I want to make Dorking or an area close to Dorking my forever home.
We like that the hills and hiking paths are just five minutes away. We’re also totally enamored with the private front garden and deck.
Have you found it difficult to find a place to rent? The market really is crazy at the moment.
Yes! It was extremely difficult and emotional and soul crushing.
How have you made the house feel like a home?
It’s all about the different pieces we’ve chosen; from the plates, to the chairs to the plants and how we’ve decided to display or arrange our beloved items such as books and pictures. Scott has lived around the world without his own set space and this is my first time having the opportunity to set up my home from scratch without hand me downs or furniture from my childhood. It’s adulting at its finest.
Are there any problems with the home you have to deal with?
No. we feel quite fortunate and blessed at the condition in which we received the property and the proactive and kind nature of our landlords.
How long do you plan to stay at the property?
For a while, we do love it!
Do you feel like you have enough space?
Yes, I think we have lots of space.
Do you want to own a place some day or are you happy to rent?
Yes.
We’re happy to rent and gain this experience as we learn about the market and what’s available, what we like, where we like and also frame our expectations and make a goal.
